Ringtons is a unique business with a unique story. Founded in 1907 by Samuel Smith, Ringtons remains the only company in the world to deliver tea, coffee and biscuits door-to-door. Having survived two World Wars and several recessions, Ringtons remains a family business, with three of Sam’s great-grandsons actively involved in running the company.
Today, a growing fleet of 200 vans continues to make door-to-door deliveries from Edinburgh down to Peterborough and from Lancashire across to East Anglia, serving over 250,000 households.

Ringtons: a unique business
A typical Ringtons franchisee will:
• Have an exclusive territory of 30,000-40,000 households, divided into 10 routes, each served fortnightly.
• Have 125 regular customers per route.
• Carry a range of teas, coffee, biscuits and seasonal items to customers’ doors in a traditional wicker basket.
• Take payment at the door, as 90 per cent of customers pay immediately (a simple interest-free credit facility is available).
• Record each transaction on a user-friendly handheld computer/scanner.
Ringtons: a unique opportunity
The Ringtons franchise has six key features:
1. A product range based on four core values - world class quality, exclusivity, freshness and value for money.
2. A protected territory of 30,000-40,000 households, allowing you to build your business and potentially sell part off to another franchisee, generating a lump sum for your business.
3. The Ringtons training programme will provide you with all the knowledge, skill and support you need to build your business. Key features include:
• Two weeks’ intensive pre-launch training
• Ringtons’ head offices in Newcastle, and at one of it sales offices, gaining hands-on experience
with Ringtons’ managers, trainers and salespeople.
• 'On van' help, coaching and support from an experienced Ringtons salesperson every day for
the first four weeks of trading.
• A minimum of a further 10 days’ support/ training from a dedicated Ringtons business coach.
4. The ongoing support package is comprehensive and includes a dedicated business coach, direct access to the Ringtons franchise support team, freephone customer careline for your customers and an online Ringtons franchise community.
5. The unique Ringtons business system, which by capturing each customer transaction electronically produces a suite of reports that gives franchisees all the information they need to control, plan and build their business. This bespoke software also drives a fully automated stock control and re-order system.
6. Ringtons believes it is important for franchisees to have a successful launch. To get off to a flying start, Ringtons’ team of experienced door-to-door canvassers will generate a minimum of 1,800 customer orders prior to launch.
The package
The cost of a Ringtons franchise is £28,950 (plus VAT ). In addition, you will need a working capital requirement of around £1,000. It is anticipated that the major franchising banks will support a Ringtons franchisee with funding of up to 50 per cent (subject to status).
Ringtons’ management service fees and marketing levy are fixed (not a percentage royalty fee) at £75 and £25 per week respectively. The Ringtons franchise offers the potential for high earnings. More financial information will be made available as you pursue your interest.
