DIRECT SELLING JEWELLERY COMPANY SILPADA DESIGNS PROVIDES UK WOMEN WITH A FUN AND FLEXIBLE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

The brainchild of co-founders Bonnie Kelly and Teresa Walsh was created from a successful wardrobe styling venture in 1997. Today Silpada Designs jewellery is sold by more than 33,000 representatives in the UK, US and Canada. In 2010 Silpada was acquired by Avon, uniting the two direct selling powerhouses and providing a stronger opportunity to share Silpada with women everywhere for decades to come.

Silpada jewellery appeals to women of all ages and walks of life, with prices ranging from £11 to £286. More than 200 items in the Silpada catalogue are less than £50, making Silpada an affordable luxury. In addition to offering a lifetime guarantee, Silpada is committed to highly detailed craftsmanship. On average, each piece of Silpada jewellery is handcrafted by six to eight skilled artisans, making each one a true work of art.

A Silpada party is the life force of every representative’s business. When Kelly and Walsh started Silpada they wanted to host the kind of parties that they would want to attend. So they developed a relaxed party model with no hassle and no presentations. At a Silpada party the representative simply mingles with the hostess and her friends, encouraging them to play ‘dress-up’ for a few hours while trying on the jewellery. By eliminating a sales pitch, Silpada parties are a fun, informal way to get together with friends and family. This allows the representative to act as a personal shopper who brings the boutique to customers in a comfortable setting, while rewarding the hostess with free Silpada jewellery.

A Silpada party is also substantially profitable for both the representative and hostess. A party with £700 in retail sales results in £175 in commission for the representative and £175 worth of free jewellery for the hostess.

A Silpada Designs start-up kit is £149 and includes everything a woman needs to start her business, including a three-piece jewellery kit (a £178 value). Additionally, new representatives can earn more than £3,000 in free jewellery during their first 100 days with the company. By working just six-eight hours and holding two £700 parties per week, representatives can earn £48-£58 per hour.

FREEDOM AND FLEXIBILITY

Not only is it easy to get started and earn money with Silpada, but representatives enjoy several benefits that traditional jobs don’t offer, such as the ability to set your own hours.

For Helen Jackson, Silpada came into her life at the perfect time. She received a first-class honours degree and trained to be a chartered accountant at a global financial services firm. After moving to London, Jackson found work at one of the largest foreign exchange dealers in the world and later worked in a financial role for a UK-based media company. Despite her focus, she felt she was not in control and overcome with the pressures of work. Soon the long hours and high stress got the better of her. She thought toward the future - how could she tell her children they could do anything they set their mind to when she couldn’t?

That’s when Jackson made the decision to leave her job and reclaim her life. She did so without much of a plan, and soon found herself without funds to pay her mortgage and other bills. After a couple of months without work, she knew she needed a change.

Jackson’s mother suggested she met with Zachs in London to discuss the idea of becoming a Silpada representative. Her mother was already enjoying success as a representative and wanted her daughter to experience the business opportunity. After the meeting, Jackson was inspired by Zachs and entertained the idea of being her own boss. She is now in control of her life, even turning down job offers in finance because of her new-found flexibility.
