Will a franchisor help me find suitable premises?
Finding premises may not always be an issue, as not all franchise businesses require the franchisee to operate from dedicated premises. However, where premises are required the franchisor may offer some assistance, but the level may vary depending on the franchisor and can range from a section in the operating manual that offers guidance on the selection of premises, through to more hands-on assistance.
In some cases, the franchisor may be aware of suitable premises that are available - for example, premises used by previous franchisees with an established customer base or premises that are in a prestige location. In some circumstances the franchisor may own suitable premises, which it may be willing to lease to a franchisee. However, a franchisee should carry out their own research and be satisfied with the suitability and location of premises for the particular franchise concept before signing any tenancy agreement.
